The White Horse Inn This old coaching inn on the Great North Road has been used for centuries on the London to York stage. Guests that have stopped at the White Horse include Charles Dickens, Samuel Pepys, and HRH the Queen of Norway (1937). Charles Dickens, in his novel 'Nicholas Nickleby', has Wackford Squeers dining with his pupils at Eton Slocomb on their way north. (English)
