Foster Fyans (1790–1870) was an Irish military officer who served as the acting commandant of the second convict settlement at Norfolk Island and the commandant of the Moreton Bay penal settlement at Brisbane. He was also the first police magistrate at Djilang (Geelong), Victoria. Here he was tasked with protecting settler pastoralists and was directly involved in their clashes with the First Nations people living on Wadawurrung Country. Geoff Barker 2023 (English)
