Built by the Japanese Imperial Forces during World War II as part of the fortification against the Allied Liberation Forces led by Gen. Douglas MacArthur on D-Day, 20 October 1944. The United States Marines captured and used it as shelter from aerial bombardments by Japanese planes. As war relic, the Dio Island Resort has maintained and preserved it for posterity. (English)
