Two months prior to that, in September 1941, the Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg (ERR) created the Arbeitsgruppe Estland (AG) with its headquarters in Tallinn, then called Reval, specifically in Pernauerstrasse 10.49 The AG Estland was under the leadership of Georg von Krusenstjern (1899 – 1989), who had joined the ERR on September 2, 1941, and functioned as its Haupteinsatzführer for Reval50 until February 1943. Krusenstjern, a trained historian and genealogist, was born in St. Petersburg and had fought in Estonia’s war of independence beginning in 1918. He later lived in Estonia and since 1939 was involved in the organization of the resettlement of the Baltic Germans from Estonia. His voluntary assignment with the ERR enabled Krusenstjern to effectively continue his intensive research into German-Baltic culture. (English)
