    Unang ipinatayong yari sa kahoy ni Padre Francisco Nuñez, O.P., at inialay sa patronato ni San Matias, 1702. Nahiwalay sa Cabagan at naging isang ganap na bayan, 1751. Ang simbahang bato na may pabilog na kampanaryo, ang kaisa-isang uri nito sa Pilipinas ay ipinatayo ni Padre Domingo Forto, 1783 at ganap na natapos 1805. Naging kabisera ng Isabela sa loob na maikling panahon, 1880’s. Bahagyang nasira noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig at ipinaayos ng mga tapat na mananampalataya ng Tumauini.<br><br>Sa bisa ng Kautusan ng Pangulo Bilang 260, Agosto 1, 1973, na sinusugan ng mga Kautusan Bilang 375, 14 Enero 1974, at Bilang 1505, Hunyo 11, 1978. Ang simbahang ito ay ipinahayag na Pambansang Palatandaang Makasaysayan, 24 Pebrero 1989. (Tagalog)

    First built of light materials by Fray Francisco Nuñez, O.P. and dedicated to the patron saint San Matias, 1707. Separated from Cabagan and became a regular parish, 1751. The church of stone with a unique cylindrical bell tower, the only of its kind in the Philippines was constructed by Father Domingo Forto, 1783 and completed, 1805. Became the capital of Isabela for sometime in 1880’s. Partly damaged during World War II and repaired into its original form by the faithful of Tumauini.<br><br>By virtue of Presidential Decree No. 260, 1 August 1973, as amended by Executive Order Nos. 375, 14 January 1974, and No. 1505, 11 June 1978. This church was declared a National Historical Landmark, 24 February 1989. (English)
