Hier wohnte Wilhelm Busch (1832-1908) humoristischer Dichter und Zeichner, ein Pionier des Comic mit Werken, wie "Max und Moritz" oder "Die fromme Helene". 1847-1851 studierte er Maschinenbau am hiesigen Polytechnikum. Anfangs wohnte er bei seinem Onkel im Haus Schmiedestraße 33, das an dieser Stelle stand. In Hannover "ging mit seinem Äußern eine stolze Veränderung vor. Ich kriegte die erste Uhr -alt, nach dem Kartoffelsystem- und den ersten Paletot -neu, so schön ihn der Dorfschneider zu bauen vermochte." Von mir über mich (1894) (German)
