This I have named Barnettia in honour of the late Dr E.C. Barnett of Aberdeen University whose taxonomic work enormously contributed to our knowledge of the Thai Flora and who prepared an unfinished manuscript list of the Bignoniaceae of Thailand for the 'Florae Siamensis Enumeratio', of which she was editor.
