    William L. Piatt. After an illness of long duration. William L. Piatt, aged 83 years, four months and 15 days, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. McDowell, 18 Mill street. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Piatt, and was born at Westbrookville, where he had always lived, being a farmer by occupation. He was a veteran of the Civil War of 1864-1865, serving under Captain John S. Hicks, as a private of Co. K, 20th Regiment of New York Provisional Cavalry, being a volunteer. He enlisted Jan. 20, 1864. By special order he was discharged Aug. 9, 1865, at Louisville, Ky. He is survived by the following children: John Piatt. of Cuddebackville; Mary, wife of James Needham, of Newburgh; David, of near Yankee Lake; Bertha, wife of Floyd Griffen, of Westbrookville; Belle, wife of A. L. Skinner, of Winterton; George and Clarence, of this city. Also, one brother, D. H. Platt, of Westbrookvile. The funeral services will be held Friday. at 2 o'clock, at the Methodist Church, Westbrookville. (English)
