is this the correct AniDB tag to use here? The tag seems to be about manga specifically, not anime based on manga @Shisma: --Trade (talk) 00:25, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Trade: AniDB does not collect data about manga. At least I can say, many anime that have the tag manga are based on manga. Furthermore anime tagged with the tag new have been anime in their earliest iteration and may have been adopted into manga later. curiously there is overlap between the two tags. Maybe the AniDB community is confused about that tag as well? The description is certainly not helpful.

My 2 cents: I don’t think “anime based on a manga” is a genre (nor would be “movie based on a novel” or “tv show based on a game” or else) − it’s metadata that we model in a much richer way via based on (P144). In my opinion, it does not belong in genre (P136) nor in instance of (P31). Jean-Fred (talk) 20:21, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Jean-Frédéric agreed this should only be used as a class. --Loominade (talk) 10:08, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Loominade I don’t think it should be used as a class either, for the reasons outlined in Talk:Q104640199. :-) Jean-Fred (talk) 14:48, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
