Correct identification of this object[edit]

The correct identification of some NGC objects is difficult due to errors and misunderstandings of the original observer and of the astronomers that, during time, made and re-analysed the data.

Use the information of different sources, NGC 3387 has different identifications. Following the prescription of NGC/IC project NGC 3386 and NGC 3387 are different objects: a galaxy and (probably) a group of stars!

Source Identifications Link Notes
NGC/IC project in VizieR (Q1662358) galaxy and a star near [1] right identification
NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (Q488563) galaxy and a star near [2] right identification
Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database (Q6709611) PGC 32284, NGC 3386 [3] wrong identification!
SIMBAD (Q654724) PGC 32284, NGC 3386 [4] wrong identification!

It would be prudent do not use SIMBAD (Q654724) and Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database (Q6709611) databases to recover information of this object!
