Correct identification of this object[edit]
The correct identification of some NGC objects is difficult due to errors and misunderstandings of the original observer and of the astronomers that, during time, made and re-analysed the data.
Use the information of different sources, NGC 3387 has different identifications. Following the prescription of NGC/IC project NGC 3386 and NGC 3387 are different objects: a galaxy and (probably) a group of stars!
Source | Identifications | Link | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
NGC/IC project in VizieR (Q1662358) | galaxy and a star near | [1] | right identification |
NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (Q488563) | galaxy and a star near | [2] | right identification |
Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database (Q6709611) | PGC 32284, NGC 3386 | [3] | wrong identification! |
SIMBAD (Q654724) | PGC 32284, NGC 3386 | [4] | wrong identification! |
- It would be prudent do not use SIMBAD (Q654724) and Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database (Q6709611) databases to recover information of this object!
