Clarification
[edit]Instance of
[edit]Potential reasons for instance of (P31) being the wrong property for the deprecated statement:
- The subject item is a specific copy (out of several identical ones) of a printed, lithographed or recorded work (such as a misprinted stamp, a numbered copy of a limited edition, or other collectible item of reproduced art. Use exemplar of (P1574) to indicate the relationship to the original work or edition.
- The subject item is an edition of a periodical publication. Use edition or translation of (P629) to indicate the relationship with the periodical, and qualify with issue (P433) (or point in time (P585) for a daily newspaper when issue number may be difficult to determine).

Model item
[edit]The model item (P5869) property is solely intended to point out showcase items to be used as reference and inspiration by Wikidata editors when adding new items of the same class. The property claims do not convey any information about the subject class they are assigned to, nor of the objects designated as model items (other than their level of completeness in Wikidata), and the statements are therefore unlikely to find support in external resources, whether provided as references or otherwise. See Wikidata:Model items for further information on the use of model items. --SM5POR (talk) 09:05, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Present in work
[edit]The present in work (P1441) property is intended for fictional or fictionalized characters or organizations appearing in a work of fiction. For non-fictional, non-human entities (such as professions, locations or technologies) illustrated or making up a substantial part of the setting in a work of fiction, use depicted by (P1299). --SM5POR (talk) 19:46, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
Subclass of
[edit]Potential reasons for subclass of (P279) being the wrong property for the deprecated statement:
- The subject item is a single identified instance of a physical object or a specific, non-recurring event in time. Use instance of (P31) instead.
- The subject item is a creative work by a single author, or group of authors. Use instance of (P31) to indicate what literary or artistic form of expression (novel, article, computer program, pictorial art, sculpture, dance etc) has been used for the work.
- The subject item is a named periodical that is published repeatedly according to a schedule. Use instance of (P31) to indicate what kind of periodical it is.

Represents
[edit]- The subject item is a specific subclass of (P279) of a more generic item with the same label. An n-ary mathematical relation (Q203066) is indeed a subclass of a more generic relation (Q930933). The more specific relation does not represent the genericconcept of relation in te same way as Apple logo (Q13218275) represents the Apple (Q312) company]. --SM5POR (talk) 11:36, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
