Ali-Aliye[edit]

In Turkish Ali is a male name. There is also the female name Aliye which may be considered as "the other sex version" but not in Turkey/Turkish though; because in Turkish language we do not normally separate people based on sex. I mean we only have "öğretmen" which means teacher and not that we have "profesor/profesora" like in, say, Spanish. Therefore no Turk normally thinks that Ali and Aliye are versions of each other. They are simply two given names.

Having said that, I cannot understand how "Ali" is a "unisex name" but has two versions for "the other sex"! Which other sex, if it is a "unisex name"? Either this should be made a "male name" entry or those "other sex" versions should be removed.

I know that as always nobody will say anything on my comments, but at least I want to get them into the records. Thanks. --E4024 (talk) 00:58, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
