Proposal for an identifier (acronym) for the welding process according to AWS
[edit]Like ISO 4063 (Q22443162 AND P2766), i think en:American Welding Society acronym is important in identifying a welding process. It is an American standard, but due to its popularity, it is widely used in sources (scientific, technical and commercial).
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding: - ISO 4063: 111 - AWS A3.0: SMAW ( Shielded Metal Arc Welding )
but there are some conflict between ISO and AWS id (see en:List of welding processes - update in my langage fr:Liste des procédés de soudage:
- ISO more precise:
- AWS: process TIG (for Tungstene Inert Gaz): - ISO 4063: 14 - AWS A3.0: GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding )
- process TIG (for Tungstene Inert Gaz): - ISO 4063: 141 - AWS A3.0: ?
- or AWS more pragmatic:
- FCAW - ISO 4063: ? - AWS A3.0: FCAW ( Flux-Cored Arc Welding )
I think these IDs are complementary. Hereptol (talk) 09:59, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
