GND

[edit]

@Kresspahl: son, father, wife (and several other from his family) have GND, can he get too? Rostworowski (talk) 18:02, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have gone through the Hornbostels on both sides (FG/wd), made some clearances aswell as interlinks, and I do not see a necessity by now, especially any risks of confusion.--Kresspahl (talk) 08:48, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. No GND: The family relation is then not stored in a more reliable public and widely used database. GND is one of the two most used authority file IDs for humans in WD, the other is ISNI, and the most used in the German linked open data community. Rostworowski (talk) 13:56, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thats surely right and makes him one of the many candidates that might be filtered out and added as "connecting personalties" by AI in near future...--Kresspahl (talk) 15:33, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That would be great. Did you hear of any plans of DNB/GND to do that?
The GND DB has a lot of redundancy, mostly it would be sufficient to just write down father, mother, spouse(s), so completely unnecesary seems to be child, and relatives are only needed as long as the connecting ones have not been created - or are unknown. Can imagine grandfather is needed even if father exists, because e.g. one does not know for sure which of two brothers is the father. But since GND stores child, they don't seem to care about duplication of information. Rostworowski (talk) 16:17, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
