Propose Removing Link to OpenStreetMap Tag:amenity=ice_cream[edit]

I propose removing the following assertion from ice cream (Q13233):

OpenStreetMap tag or key (P1282): Tag:amenity=ice_cream

This should be removed because in OpenStreetMap, Tag:amenity=ice_cream is an "Ice cream shop or ice cream parlour. A place that sells ice cream and frozen yoghurt over the counter." (SOURCE: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:amenity%3Dice_cream). The Wikidata notion of ice cream (Q13233) can be considered the substance sold and consumed at places with the OpenStreetMap tag Tag:amenity=ice_cream. It does not refer to the stores themselves. For this reason, the linkage from Wikidata "ice cream" to the OpenStreetMap Tag:amenity=ice_cream should be removed.

Unless there are objections to making this edit, I propose to wait until, say, Wednesday Dec 2 01:00 hrs GMT before performing it.

Actually, I have a better idea. Wikidata not only knows about ice cream as a desert, it also knows about ice cream shops/parlours. I will replace the above assertion with this.

ice cream parlor (Q1311064) OpenStreetMap tag or key (P1282) : Tag:amenity=ice_cream

COMPLETE: The proposal has been acted upon because the assertion has been moved from this concept ice cream (Q13233) to ice cream parlor (Q1311064). See Talk:Q1311064

Milky or not[edit]

@Nw520: I consider "ice-cream" as necessarily milky product. As for ice pop (Q855373) it shouldn't be subclass of Q13233 but of more general frozen dessert (Q866153). --Infovarius (talk) 20:30, 15 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Infovarius: Thanks for the ping. The main issue with this item currently seems to be that at least the German label, description and sitelink don't fit to the English ones. The label "Eis" would translate the "ice", the sitelink "Speiseeis" roughly to "edible ice" and the description "Süßspeise bestehend aus gefrorenen Flüssigkeiten" to "dessert composed of frozen fluids". Following German legal classification "Speiseeis" is a superclass of "Wassereis/water ice", "Eiscreme/ice cream", "Cremeeis", "Sorbet" and more; therefore it isn't necessarily a milky product. So there currently seem to be two separate concepts mingled in this item which might need to be separated. --Nw520 (talk) 14:27, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
