Editions[edit]

In an ideal world we can put the code into a bunch of edition entries, but that's not very practical yet. The edition structure is as follows:

  • Before and including the 9th report, the Code is simply part of the report publication. This is what PMID 22932924 says, at least.
    • Now I don't know since when a Code became part of the report: was it since the beginning, or was it a little later? This will be important for getting publication date (P577) right: the current value of 2018 is clearly wrong.
    • We don't have Q (item) entries for all the reports yet, especially the ninth.
  • Starting in April 2017, the Code went online. The unfortunate thing is that the ICTV just doesn't archive old versions of their code, so you have to use the Wayback Machine to enumerate it. If we want to make a bunch of edition "items" like what we do with any other nomenclatural code, each of them will need to link to archive dot org. That's a little messed up.

For now all I can do is using the Wayback Machine to find all online editions. I will have to visit some library of those illegal high seas to determine when it started being a thing. Artoria2e5 (talk) 12:19, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can confirm that report 5 has a section titled "The Rules of Virus Nomenclature 1990". --Artoria2e5 (talk) 14:08, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The online 9th report has no Part III, which should contain the 2011 Code. Ouch. --Artoria2e5 (talk) 14:49, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
