- The protagonist of The Three Musketeers (Q140527) is d'Artagnan. The three Musketeers are introduced and presented in relation to him. That some character is a supporting character does not mean that the character is unimportant. There are quite a few supporting characters with high importance to plot development or who stand in the centre of some secondary storyline - some of them may even outplay the protagonist.
- Anyway, if there are sources who define Athos (or all four together) as the protagonist of The Three Musketeers (Q140527) we should just add this claim as another opinion. There may be movie adaptations that treat Athos as the protagonist of the story.
