Are events in no countries?[edit]

Q1656682 says: "properties for this type: country (P17)". I take and event (Q66023187), put it under "instance of: event" (as there is no item for the exact type of event), and get an error message saying: "An entity should not have a statement for country if it also has a statement for instance of with value event." So, should all individual events be classified under some subclass or what's the case here? First, why shouldn't an event have the property "country", and second, if it shouldn't, why is "country" then included in the list of suitable properties here?
