Public access to country houses[edit]

A country house can allow the general public access for 1) special functions like weddings 2) to the house as a sort of museum. 3) to the grounds. Even it continues to be occupied by the owners, it becomes a house museum (Q2087181) when open, and while all country houses have gardens, many only open their gardens. I'd suggest that country house (Q16884952) applies to all suitable buildings, but house museum (Q2087181) is added if the house open to the public, and garden (Q1107656) if the garden is as a notable feature (show garden (Q66310308) could be used but seems to be reserved for garden displays at flower shows). stately home (Q4919932) should be avoided as UK only and deprecated. Not a true subclass of manor house[edit]

@User:Cruzate1492 I'm not convinced that country house should be a subclass of manor house (Q879050), smaller ones are descendants of the form, but country houses also include great house (Q3399487) , residences of those with much greater status than lords of the manor. Subclasses need to be completely contained. Vicarage (talk) 13:01, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
