MESH:D018698 and Glutamate[edit]
This entry has MeSH descriptor ID D018698, and one of the entry terms for D018698 is "Glutamate". But Scidudebot said: "...glutamate' is not a valid alias for this item." How should we handle entry terms for MeSH descriptor concepts? --Ariutta (talk) 19:49, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
- I wrote that. Wikidata contains more entries than Wikipedia and than many databases. It's nothing new that some databases have entries in which they merge different concepts into one entry. This MeSH entry has Glutamic Acid as a preferred term and other like glutamate as narrower terms. One thing that can be done here is to add mapping relation type (P4390)broad match (Q39894595) as a qualifier, because Wikidata entry is for a group of stereoisomers (i.e. group of two chemical compounds, D and L forms) and MeSH entry covers also anionic forms and salts. However, it's not a reason to add aliases for anionic forms or salts to this item, because in Wikidata these concepts have its own entries. Wostr (talk) 13:18, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
