[edit]Just commenting because my edit to the subclass of (P279) classes was reverted. To my understanding, an anecdote is not necessarily a joke (Q131138), nor is it necessarily a "brief work of literature, usually written in narrative prose" as stated in the description of short story (Q49084) (though there are certainly anecdotes that fulfill both these criteria). I changed it to narrative (Q1318295) as this seems to better match the class of things that encompasses all anecdotes. Am I misunderstanding the intended purpose of subclass of (P279)? As per its description: "all instances of these items are instances of those items; this item is a class (subset) of that item." --NoInkling (talk) 02:17, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- Just to add to this, en:Anecdote states that "Occasionally humorous, anecdotes differ from jokes..." --NoInkling (talk) 02:42, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- @NoInkling: you understand P279 correct. The problem is in cultural differences between languages. Because ru:Анекдот states that "фольклорный жанр, короткая смешная история" (genre of folklore, brief humorous story). In Russian it is necessarily humorous. --Infovarius (talk) 23:40, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
