What is the purpose of this element? --Smalyshev (WMF) (talk) 17:29, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Smalyshev (WMF): Some people (me in particular, but also others) have created items about Wikibase data model. I though I would create this for completeness, maybe to link uris about Wikibase model primer, Wikidata help URIS and so on. I should create a Wikibase data model project :) This could be a ;-) for the reflection of Wikibase data model in Wikidata and might be useful for semantic web folks who would have a URI to link to this concept, like https://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q19798648 for example. I also wanted to use it into the unknown value Help and no value Help templates, did not find a way to do this nicely though. TomT0m (talk) 17:48, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But somevalue and novalue are not really Q items, they have different (and special) semantics, so I'm not sure what is the point of having items about them. For somevalue, it is explicitly wrong to have a Q item since that means that if John has "father" set to "somevalue" and Jane has "father" set to "somevalue", they would appear to have the same father. Which, of course, is not the case - what it says is they both have fathers (as most humans do :) but nothing about who that is is known to us. That's why "somevalue" and "novalue" are special and not Q-items.
