"Translating Slavery: Gender and Race in French Women's Writing, 1783-1823", 1994, p. 12: "Olympe de Gouges wrote in French, not her native language, so that for her the very act of writing was a translation. It is therefore not surprising that her writing-in-translation produced results which pushed the limits of the genre of French theater." There is no mention of that in English Wikipedia, which is not surprising as the French cultural policy has long been - and partly, still is - to omit Occitan language and culture from the history of France. The question is, whether entering Occitan here as her native language will start an edit war. --Ehitaja (talk) 15:32, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
