Is this the same as Fagus sylvatica f. purpurea (Q886511)? I'm getting many google result for both Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea' as well as Fagus sylvatica f. purpurea literally, but I'm not sure if this is just a different notation? --Rohieb (talk) 01:03, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- I was wondering about the same thing.
- Fagus sylvatica ʽPurpurea’ (Q21163121) points to commons:Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea' which is the main page of commons:Category:Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea'.
- And Fagus sylvatica f. purpurea (Q886511) points to that same category. The "f." probably stands for w:en:Form (botany).
- Thus they seem probably mergeable? The only thing that bugs me is that Fagus sylvatica ʽPurpurea’ (Q21163121)'s English description and "taxonomic rank" say "cultivar", which may seems to be a different concept than a "natural form" spontaneously occurring in nature (which seems to be the case for purple beech according to French wikipedia's beech article) ... but is seems there's a lot of confusions between "form", "variety", "cultivar" concepts depending of the sources. --FoeNyx (talk) 14:58, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
