Concept of 'text'[edit]
I have difficulties understanding whether the concept behind text (Q234460) refers to
- (1) an abstract idea of a text (cf. written work (Q47461344)), e.g., Hansel and Gretel (Q11829), Bible (Q1845),
or
- (2) a concrete piece of text (physically, incl. digital), e.g., concrete editions or manuscripts like Hansel and Grethel (Q60633483), Church Bible of 1917 (Q10397145)
The English definition "object that can be "read" by reader; result of writing", the fact that it is tagged a subclass of record (Q107435521) and that it has a writing system (Q8192), and the fact that an inscription (Q1640824) is tagged to be a subclass of text (Q234460) speaks for option (2).
The fact that it is tagged a subclass of written work (Q47461344), which is a subclass of and only of intellectual work (Q15621286) speaks, I understand, for option (1).
The German definition "delimited, coherent, mostly written linguistic utterance" is not absolutely clear in this respect, I feel.
I wonder whether the statement that text (Q234460) is a subclass of written work (Q47461344) shouldn't be removed.
