Where to point Encyclopedia of Fantasy link?

[edit]

@UWashPrincipalCataloger: There's an entry named "Lost Horizon" in the Encyclopedia of Fantasy. It discusses this film and Lost Horizon (Q1619885) (the 1937 film based on the same literary work (Lost Horizon (Q1199794))). Wikidata also has an item (Lost Horizon (Q402877)) representing the Wikipedia disambiguation page for the title "Lost Horizon". I thought it was more appropriate to link the Encyclopedia of Fantasy entry to the disambiguation page Wikidata item, rather than to the items for the two movies -- but I'm very open to alternatives views. • I don't think that pointing to the disambiguation page is the way to do this. That page is not an item for a specific work, and it points to more than the two works that the EoF page discusses, so it's a less exact match. If the article discusses two works and there are items for them both, it seems that the best thing is to give the identifier on both of those. That's the most useful to users I think. Linking to the disambiguation page doesn't create immediate links to both films. And I can't ever recall seeing an identifier on a disambiguation page either. I came to a similar conclusion independently. On a related note, The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction has a few similar entries. Susmuffin (talk) 07:11, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
