@Magnus Manske: @Harej: What is the best way to resolve the double entry scientific data (Q20081319) Scientific Data (Q27725928)? It seems that the newest is the one that is most used. Quora topic ID (P3417) is wrong in one of them. — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 19:07, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fnielsen, I tend to err on the side of duplication, including when making items about journals. So in this case, my script, seeing that there was no item with the ISSN, decided to create a new one. If we can verify that the two entries refer to the same journal, and not to two different journals named "Scientific Data," then we can merge. (I wouldn't put too much thought into the Quora Topic ID assignment... I've seen some questionable assignments of topic IDs to items, including one to a journal article that I imagine wasn't intended.) Harej (talk) 21:19, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
My question was mostly related to how we should merge them. The merge tool, by default, chose the low number, but I suppose it would be better so turn scientific data (Q20081319) into the topic "science data" and move the few articles to Scientific Data (Q27725928) ? I suppose there are no issue with that? A related question: Are there any bot you know of that updates values when items are merged? — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 21:42, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have now repurposed scientific data (Q20081319) and moved all journal links to Scientific Data (Q27725928). I wonder if that was too bold? — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 14:08, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
