Nationality

[edit]

@Amiral Bouclettes @Faqscl

The French nationality of Yasmine Belkaid was not mentioned before, except in the press release of the French Institut Pasteur, which I suppose is not a reliable source in terms of nationality for the following reasons: 1- The press release describes her as "franco-algérienne", which means Franco-Algerian, instead of "algéro-française," which should be Algéro-French. In terms of precision in biographic information, this institute is not really trustworthy because she grew up in Algiers, Algeria and studied there before. Therefore, the term "franco-algérienne" cannot be used since she did not grow up in France. This shows that the institute is manipulating the terms to glorify France. 2 - Yasmine has been elected as a US citizen member of the National Academy of Sciences, as you can see here. So, if the press release of Institut Pasteur was a reliable source, it should have mentioned her American nationality as well, which it did not. 3- Her French nationality was not mentioned anywhere before. She only studied in France before moving to the USA. Overall, we can conclude that Institut Pasteur is not a reliable source in terms of nationality. Riad Salih (talk) 12:07, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
