Died 1217, 1243 and 1247

[edit]

Hello @Melderick: you've merged this item with 3 other items and it's not clear who this person should be.

Looks like three different persons that are somehow related. --Kolja21 (talk) 22:24, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Kolja21. Yes this is tricky but as far as I can tell, they are the same person but with an uncertain date of death.
GND 136801331 gives for source an aticle on Burggraf von Magdeburg and lists in order : Burchard I, Burchard II († 1178), Burchard III († 1190), Gebhard IV († c. 1213), Burchard IV († 1217/18). This source also states that Burchard III and Gebhard IV were brothers.
I have checked these names on https://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/SAXON%20NOBILITY.htm#BurchardQuerfurtBgfMagdeburgdied1161B (where the numbering starts with II instead of I) and the dates of death correspond for all of them except for Burchard IV whose date is between 1246 and 1247.
There is no more a Burchard died in 1217 in this page : https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stammliste_von_Querfurt
So my opinion is this date is an error.
As for GND 136449069, it says that Konrad I has a nephew called Burchard IV († 1243), again a Burggraf von Magdeburg.
This description corresponds to this item. On the peerage and on rodovid, the death date is given as between 1243 and 1246, so I am not surprised by this † 1243.
So, my opinion is they are all the same, even if the death date is different. Especially as GND sources barely gives any detail about them. Melderick (talk) 23:11, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I should have mentioned that, of course, if you (or someone else) find a source about a different Burchard († 1217/18), I will gladly unmerge Melderick (talk) 23:21, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
