@Treetoes023: What is this, if not a language family? Why does it have statements designed for languages and language families, like linguistic typology (P4132) and number of speakers, writers, or signers (P1098)? —Tacsipacsi (talk) 11:22, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Tacsipacsi: The Paleo-Siberian languages are not a language family, the four language families that make up the Paleo-Siberian languages (Chukotko-Kamchatkan, Nivkh, Yeniseian, and Yukaghir) have no proven genetic relationship with each other. The term refers to the language families that were spoken before the Turkic and Tungusic peoples migrated to Siberia. This grouping is similar to the Indigenous languages of the Americas, both terms describe the language families that were spoken in an area before other groups entered the area and displaced them. It's a geographic and historic grouping, not a linguistic grouping. You can look at the Wikipedia article about the Paleo-Siberian languages if you want to know more. – Treetoes023 (talk) 18:43, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
