Conceptual mess[edit]

There is a huge conceptual mess here. The description says speaks about "systems and facilities" in English but about "a place where goods are exchanged" in German. The linked Wikipedia articles are partly about "economic markets" and partly about "street markets". A statement says that we have a geographical object here (which suggests "street market" as intended).

Moreover, Q132510, called "street market" in English is a subclass of this and has similar issues. The linked English article there is called "market" (not street market) and defines "street market" as one possible example type of market. Other Wikipedia articles linked there refer to other types of markets (German links to "Wochenmarkt" a weekly market where food is sold -- very different from street market or market in general).

All of this needs cleaning up, best by starting to reassign Wikipedia articles so that they really match each other's topics, and then by setting labels and statements to fit this meaning. The problem is that the Wikipedia's themselves have very irregular ways of describing markets (e.g., the German article "Markt" describes the word rather than a particular meaning of it: it says that a market can be a place where goods are exchanged, an event organised for this purpose, or a more general economic market. That's not a useful combination of meanings for aligning with other languages or for specifying data about.

@Markus Krötzsch: I suggest that we turn Q132510 into market, the event, and keep Q330284 as the space where markets are held. What do you think? --Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 20:00, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
