Mongolians[edit]

Yes, the ethnicity covers a different group of people than the nationality. Still, the name "Mongolian" is used for the ethnicity: people from the lands of the Mongols (=Mongolia) as opposed to the specific modern state with its borders and passports. Tartars[edit]

Similarly, there's a group of Turkic-speaking peoples called Tatars, Tartars, &c. That doesn't change the fact that for centuries the term was broader and, if anything, was focused on the Manchus and Mongols as a group exclusive of any Turks in the area.LlywelynII (talk) 23:20, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
