SQL or Structured Query Language?
[edit]There’s a big discussion over at enwiki if “SQL” stands for “Structured Query Language” or if it’s simply a name that doesn’t stand for anything. As far as I understand, officially, “SQL” doesn’t stand for anything, but most people say it’s an acronym, but only ever use “SQL”. Most tutorials and introductions write “Structured Query Language” once and then use “SQL” afterwards.
I suggest we use “SQL” as the item name, as most wikis do as well, and add “Structured Query Language” as an "also known as". --DSGalaktos (talk) 21:21, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
Done after no one objected for over a year :) —DSGalaktos (talk) 16:20, 14 April 2015 (UTC)- Abstract for ISO/IEC 9075-1:2011 on the ISO site reads: ISO/IEC 9075 defines Structured Query Language (SQL). So, “SQL” does stand for “Structured Query Language”. 88.204.62.233 15:14, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
