P279 "railway halt"

[edit]

There seems to be some conflict between myself and @Balint36: about whether this item should be a subclass of "railway halt". My understanding was that a railway halt need not be exclusively smaller than a railway station (for things smaller than a station we have railway halt (Q10476836) and request stop (Q813817)) and since stations do what halts do (i.e. serve as a point for (dis)embarking cargo/passengers) the P279 relationship was justified. How are you going to make railway station (Q55488) subclass from the public transport stop (Q548662)? railway station (Q55488) is definitely a subclass of public transport stop (Q548662) so we need an item that is public transport stop (Q548662) of rail transport (Q3565868). I think the problem is that different languages have different descriptions for railway stop (Q55678) and railway halt (Q10476836), which overlap randomly. For example, the Russian description of railway stop (Q55678) is "railway stopping point" while railway halt (Q10476836) has no Russian description at all with only two local Scandinavian Wikipedia links. I see the classification of railway station above is fully correct. The railway halt is subclass of railway stations, but I don't feel like argue with editors of various wikis. Texaner (talk) 16:50, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
