Phraseme vs. idiom[edit]
The definitions differ:
- phraseme: multi-word or multi-morphemic utterance at least one of whose components is selectionally constrained or restricted by linguistic convention
- idiom: combination of words whose meaning cannot be understood by combining the meaning of the component words
It seems that each idiom is a phraseme but not vice versa. --Dan Polansky (talk) 18:32, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
category[edit]
Фразеологизм should have Категория:Идиомы as topic's main category (P910), isn't it? This is true for most languages, English seems to be an exception. I propose to remove en-link from Q7285948. Infovarius (talk) 21:57, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. Category:Idioms (Q7285948) had a mismatch between languages, which I documented at Talk:Q7285948. To eliminate the mismatch, I created Category:Phrasemes (Q116147867), and all should be fine now. --Dan Polansky (talk) 07:27, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
