Overlap between this item and item Q192425 ("postcard")[edit]

There is an overlap between this item (Q569843) and item Q192425 ("postcard"). Q192425 ("postcard") contains the Swedish word "vykort" which coincides with the Russian word "открытка" which is listed here on Q569843.

The problem seems to stem from the fact that both Russian and German (and maybe some of the other languages) have two words for slightly different phenomena (a postcard in general and a postcard with an illustration entirely covering on of the sides) that in Swedish are grouped together into one term ("vykort"). It is possible that the term "postkort" would be correct in Swedish to describe Q192425, but in practice many of the words mentioned in other languages there (on Q192425) would be translated into "vykort" in everyday Swedish today (e.g. "postcard" (en), "Postkarte" (de), "cartolina postale" (it)).

Phrased in another way: In Russian and German Q569843 is a subitem of Q192425, whereas in Swedish the two items are one (at least in most (all?) contexts of modern-day Swedish).

Is there a way to solve this? Eliashedberg (talk) 15:17, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
