Confusion between day and nychthemeron[edit]
I was browsing the English nychthemeron page and wanted to add an interlanguage link to the equivalent Ukrainian page, but I got an error message that the Ukrainian page has already been linked to this entry. There appears to be quite a bit of confusion surrounding the term day (because of its inherently ambiguous nature). On this page it is defined as the 24 hour period in a full day, but on the Ukrainian page it is only defined as the period of the day that is sunlit. The Ukrainian page is actually not entirely correct because день can also be used to refer to informally refer to the 24 hour period of a full day in the same way as the English term day. The following entry in the official Ukrainian dictionary shows this: https://sum20ua.com/?page=776&searchWord=%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%B0&wordid=22798
How should this be addressed? I think a lot of pages on Wikipedia might be mixing these terms up and that a general clean-up would be in order. EphemeralMineral (talk) 13:18, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- But there is also daytime (Q52643) not to mix. And yes, not obvious link between this item and nychthemeron (Q11034997). --Infovarius (talk) 19:23, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Ops, just noticed that I linked the wrong dictionary entry. I wanted to link the день entry: https://sum20ua.com/?page=733&searchWord=%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%8C&wordid=21572 EphemeralMineral (talk) 19:56, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- So, Ukrainian (like Russian) word fits for both meanings, only description should help to distinguish these items. --Infovarius (talk) 12:06, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
