Difference between hypernym and broader term[edit]

Hypernym is a relational term referring to generic relationship, e.g. mammal is a hypernym of cat. By contrast, broader term in the context of thesauri encompasses not only generic relationship but also instace-of relationship and part-whole relationship, as per ANSI/NISO Z39.19-2005. --Dan Polansky (talk) 12:15, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
