Nacionality[edit]

Infovarius, about Congress Poland, it's not clear that it was part of Russian Empire at 1867, date of death of Marie Curie, and I never heard that she had russian nacionality. Britannica states that she born at Congress Kingdom of Poland, Russian Empire, but it says that she was a "Polish-born French physicist". I will revert your edit, if you want to add the info, please, add an official reference to the data. Bye, --Elisardojm (talk) 16:30, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Formally she was born in the Warsaw Governorate (Q2520566) since 1867 part of Vistula Land (Q2068091). --Succu (talk) 17:58, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Elisardojm: Probably you mix different meanings of English word "nationality". Here we talk about citizenship, not ethnicity. And formally she lived more that 20 years in Russian empire and it was problem to her because she cannot be properly educated being woman of Russian empire so she moved to France because of that. --Infovarius (talk) 11:19, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I know the difference about nationality and ethnicity, but the problem is that it's not clear that Curie had russian nacionality. I don't have found any reference to russian nationalty of Curie, but I have added at previous comment that she had french and poland nationality, then, I will revert your edit, and if you don't agree, please, add an official reference that. Dewiki gives a source "Marie Skłodowska Curie: Selbstbiographie. S. 15" for something like "Marie was studying at school when Polish was prohibited and all education was held in Russian". Because she was born in Warsaw which belonged to Russian empire at that time, she had Russian citizenship by default. And actually it's you who need to give a source that she hasn't Russian citizenship. For example, is it usual for you to have Spanish citizenship or is it not so obvious as I think? --Infovarius (talk) 20:57, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's more or less a political question. Would you claim that someone who was born in 1942 at Kursk (Q3159) had German citizenship by default? BTW: I never found clear evidence for having a polish national citizenship (Q42138). --Succu (talk) 21:14, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting point. I don't know how it was there, may be newborn were assigned some documents of Dritten Reich, or none at all... I should investigate. --Infovarius (talk) 13:49, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Lapsed Catholic[edit]

Marie Curie was a Lapsed Catholic. It clearly states it, with a clear citation, in the English Wikipedia article. The Lapsed Catholic category was removed by an editor who does not read English. - 2602:306:C478:5C90:ACA3:CA54:78C7:AA91 19:31, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Franklin Medal[edit]

She is not listed as receiving the Franklin Medal. She obviously did not receive the Benjamin Franklin Medal (Franklin Institute) which is given out only since 1998. I assume the intention was the John Scott medal. I therefore remove the Benjamin Franklin Medal. עדירל (talk) 20:51, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Benjamin Franklin Medal (Q4888659)? She got one. --Succu (talk) 21:09, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Name in Native Language[edit]

The “name in native language” predicate has her name in both French and Polish representations but her native language is only Polish and not French—at least according to the data here. The French entry for the “name in native language” predicate should thus be removed. --Denshee (talk) 11:38, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

I am wondering whether the label of the element should be "Marie Curie" or "Maria Sklodowska-Curie". Taking in consideration that her signature in the family archive and the publication name of her research were written as "M. Sklodowska-Curie", I am starting to question if "Marie Curie" is a misspelled name (that hides her Polish origin). Sjoel (talk) 14:00, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
