This really covers two semantically different things:

a) The visual mark "Creative Commons Public Domain Mark"
b) The legal text "Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication and Certification"

The visual mark does not hold any legal value, since it only represents the legal outcome of stating the text.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jonas.smedegaard (talk • contribs) at 2021-08-09 17:21 (UTC).

I think we can treat them as the same thing. The mark is just the logo of the dedication, but in everyday language the terms are used interchangebly. I see no value in having a separate item for the symbol itself. Ainali (talk) 07:02, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, I just noticed that this item is used correctly as copyright license (P275), see [1]. Do we have any examples where it is used correctly? Multichill (talk) 09:12, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wait, I got distracted https://creativecommons.org/licenses/publicdomain/ and https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/ got mixed up and Commons:Category:PDMark-owner got added to make the chaos complete. Multichill (talk) 09:16, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done removed and created Copyright-Only Dedication or Public Domain Certification (Q114756497). Multichill (talk) 09:29, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@JhowieNitnek, Gabldotink, Seb35: looks like you made quite the mess of this together. Before this we had:

🅮 (Q87576390) got merged into Public Domain Mark 1.0 Universal (Q7257361) and hijacked for the unicode character. The meaning of Public Domain Mark 1.0 Universal (Q7257361) got moved to Public Domain Mark 1.0 Universal (Q124175471). I think we should restore the original items.  Support, if it used to exist already. — gabldotink [ talk | contribs ] 20:57, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support to restore the two items like they used to be and delete the newest Public Domain Mark 1.0 Universal (Q124175471). Thanks for your oversight @Multichill: and sorry for the response delay. ~ Seb35 [^_^] 20:49, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@JhowieNitnek, Gabldotink, Seb35: ✓ Done please check and improve. I also linked it up with the correct Template:Cc-pd-mark-footer (Q97119778) instead of Template:PDMark-owner (Q97097069). Multichill (talk) 17:52, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
