売血 in Japanese[edit]

“売血” in Japanese means remunerated blood donations. The literal translation of “blood bank” into Japanese is “血液銀行”. 血液銀行 in Japan means commercial blood banks, which no longer exist, and they were often related with remunerated blood donations. The interlanguage link between w:en:Blood bank and w:ja:売血 seems to be based on this literal translation, which is inappropriate.

Now blood banks in Japan are managed by Japanese Red Cross, and their name is “赤十字血液センター” (“赤十字” means Red Cross). w:ja:血液センター should be the article for the interlanguage link, but it is a redirect to 赤十字血液センター at this moment. --KAWASAKI Hiroyuki (talk) 05:39, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
