Hello- I'm wondering if the definition of civil engineering is based on its practice outside of the US? I'm a civil engineer in the US, and civil engineering is not an economic branch of engineering, although civil engineers do consider costs and prepare cost estimates for specific projects. Perhaps there is conflation with the occupation of cost estimator? This is a specialization within the construction industry in the US, for which one does not need to be an engineer. For clarity, I propose eliminating the phrase "and economic branch" from the definition of civil engineering. I am new to Wikidata and appreciate your feedback. Thank you --Libpal (talk) 19:00, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hello Liberal, it was me who made that mistake when I worked on a more precise definition. Thanks for fixing it. I had looked on mechanical engineering before Q101333; there it is absolutely clear that the german term "Maschinenbau" stands for both: engineering displine and an economic branch. (Even so, it is not correct that both concepts are dealt with in a single Wikidata item because Wikidata is about concepts, not words. So there should be two different items there.) Thanks again an best regards. --Zaccarias (talk) 15:29, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
Link to DE site is wrong[edit]
Currently the page for 'Bauingenieurwesen' is linked. Thats wrong. It should be linked to 'Tiefbau'. I didn't know how to make the change on Wikidata, so I leave the comment here.Wissen4all (talk) 15:53, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
