This is supposed to be a reply to Topic:Tdlgji9ydqxrj4m4 but I can't figure out how to reply to it. :( It seems that pinging is still broken for me too, so I only just saw your reply...

You did add de-formal in Special:Diff/377029907. Maybe you removed it from your list since then? (Although it's a bit weird if you don't remember doing that :))

I don't think it's a good idea to copy labels that you don't know are correct. It's easy to spread mistakes (or even vandalism) and it's a lot more work to fix later when someone finally spots the mistake.

Some more labels which look dubious to me are all of the Kazakh ones and the Shona one. It doesn't look like you've added any Kazakh ones, but you have added Shona ones. The Shona label appears to be plural and I don't think the capitalisation is right either. I don't speak Kazakh or Shona though, so I'm not completely sure and I definitely can't fix them.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for WikiProject Names to create a list of labels which have been verified and are fine to use in descriptions, and a note of people to inform and tools to update when the list changes. Then you, User:Dereckson, MediaWiki:Gadget-autoEdit.js and anyone else who wants to do something similar can all use the same list, rather than everyone working with separate conflicting lists.

Ah, then. Yes, that was part of the script I used, which was based on the bot's one. I don't handle de-formal in my everyday use. And PlBot correct all uses of de-formal, so it's not like it's a terrible thing (but yes, I won't use this script again, of course). I use everyday the gadget AutoEdit, with its script "surname", which was done in 2013, I think. And more recently, I used the script written by @Ash Crow:, which I think re-used some of the code of DæghrefnBot (by @Dereckson:).

As nearly everyone in the project Names uses AutoEdit (since 2013) and/or DæghrefnBot (since last year), if errors are still present in the descriptions, we can safely assume that any error have spread on thousands and thousands of items. If we can identify those errors, we'll need to do a massive correction, like requesting all items with the wrong Shona description which have only one P31, family name, and replace it.

I know the scripts are correct for all languages I understand, and Google Translate gave me satisfying answers for the others (but yes, Google Translate wouldn't check if the capitalisation is right).

If you have found a problem with one of my AutoEdit edition (which, by definition, wouldn't be one made with QuickStatements), then the place to go is MediaWiki_talk:Gadget-autoEdit.js, because numerous people use this script. And for de-formal, it's DæghrefnBot the problem, and the scripts based on it (which I won't use again until this is resolved, I swear, but I'll keep using the bot and I won't be the only one…).
