Shisma, I set these up the same way that the ERIC Thesaurus ID is set up: there is no need to include a + character between every word in the genre or style. You can record it with a space the way the phrase actually appears. The link resolves to the correct location without a +. The + is unnecessary. Also, there is no need to include a reference with identifiers. They are self-identifying. The link from the identifier takes you to the exact same place as the reference you have been including. That's extra work you don't need to do.

Why do you think + should be replaced by ?

AdamSeattle (talkcontribs)

The + is simply unnecessary and doesn't reflect the actual identifier, which is identical to the name of the genre or style. That's really my reasoning for it.

By definition the identifier is exactly what you see in the URL bar while browsing discogs.

Yes, all these variations of the id text might yield the same page:

 https://www.discogs.com/style/brass%20band?!!?!?!
 https://www.discogs.com/style/%62r%61ss%20b%61nd
 https://www.discogs.com/style/brass+band
 https://www.discogs.com/style/brass+band#music

but Discogs exclusively uses the +-format.

If you alter that, links might still resolve correctly Wikidata → Discogs but not the other way around. And it breaks what certain software, such as Wikidata for Firefox (Q99894727), expects to semi-automatically add external ids. The Proposal was intentionally made to accommodate that, and you shouldn't just change that without discussion.

I'm sorry I reacted in such an irritated way.

I apologize as well, I was unaware of the issues with certain software, and only aware of the difficulties we had when my ERIC Thesaurus ID proposal was approved and created.
