I studied philosophical and historical pedagogy at the Utrecht University. I take a special interest in the history of child protection in the Netherlands, historical testing materials and archives. I was reseacher and co-author of a book to commemorate 100 years of the Children's Act and the Child Protection Board in 2005. As reseacher I took part in investigation 1, Youthcare in the Netherlands 1945-2010, commissioned by the government committee Samson (2012), investigating sexual abuse in youth care. In 2018 I wrote a book chapter together with prof. dr. Jeroen Dekker titeld The practice of the juvenile judge in the Netherlands: the family supervision order as a response to the sexual misbehaviour of minors, 1922-1940, in the bundle Youth and justice in the western states, 1815-1950, issued by Palgrave Macmillan. My dissertation (March 15th, 2019) tied in with an international comparative program investigating the history and practice of the juvenile court and the juvenile judge as an institution in the 20th century, titeld L’enfant et la justice. La pratique des tribunaux pour mineurs en Europe et en Amérique du Nord (1900-1950). Participating countries are France, Belgium, Canada, Swizerland and the Netherlands. I'm affiliated to the faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences of the Groningen University and director of ADNG (Archive for heritage of the Dutch psychology, pedagogy and education).
