I am primarily a researcher. I try to use WikiPedia for research purposes but (for whatever reason) often find it missing much information, or occasionally having incorrect information. In a small attempt to pay back for any benefit I get, I try to add or correct information as I come across missing or otherwise incorrect information. I want to thank those who contribute to these open-source databases because I know from my own experience how much time it takes to research even a small topic or even a specific item within a topic (lots).
