This is the user sandbox of Sarilho1. A user sandbox is a subpage of the user's user page. It serves as a testing spot and page development space for the user and is not an encyclopedia article, or data item. For a sandbox of your own, create it here. Other sandboxes: Main sandbox | Tutorial sandbox 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 |
Subclass defined by particle statistics (Q611755) or spin (Q133673):[edit]
quantum particle (Q28693603) obeys two types of particle statistics (Q611755), Bose-Einstein statistics (Q191076) and Fermi–Dirac statistics (Q274072), based on the value of their spin (Q133673) (see spin-statistics theorem (Q523876)):
- integer spin (Q133673) implies Bose-Einstein statistics (Q191076) and defines boson (Q43101);
- half-integer spin (Q133673) implies Fermi–Dirac statistics (Q274072) and defines fermion (Q44363).
Therefore:
- If <Item> ?(instance of (P31)) <type of quantum particle (Q22675015)> then:
- If ?(spin quantum number (P1122)) "is" <integer> or ?(type of particle statistics (Q611755)) is <Bose-Einstein statistics (Q191076)> then
- If ?(spin quantum number (P1122)) "is" <half-integer> or ?(type of particle statistics (Q611755)) is <Fermi–Dirac statistics (Q274072)> then
Legend: <.> denotes an item; ?(.) denotes a property.
Examples[edit]
- <electron (Q2225)> subclass of (P279) <fermion (Q44363)> (criterion used (P1013) <particle statistics (Q611755) "or" spin (Q133673)>).
- <positron (Q3229)> subclass of (P279) <fermion (Q44363)> (criterion used (P1013) <particle statistics (Q611755) "or" spin (Q133673)>).
- <Higgs boson (Q402)> subclass of (P279) <boson (Q43101)> (criterion used (P1013) <particle statistics (Q611755) "or" spin (Q133673)>).
- <pion (Q4097)> subclass of (P279) <boson (Q43101)> (criterion used (P1013) <particle statistics (Q611755) "or" spin (Q133673)>).
- <proton (Q2294)> subclass of (P279) <fermion (Q44363)> (criterion used (P1013) <particle statistics (Q611755) "or" spin (Q133673)>).
- <deuteron (Q503527)> subclass of (P279) <boson (Q43101)> (criterion used (P1013) <particle statistics (Q611755) "or" spin (Q133673)>).
- etc.
Problems/Questions/Grievances[edit]
- What's the best criteria to define the subclass: particle statistics (Q611755) or spin (Q133673)?
- "Violations" of Spin-Statistics theorem: Faddeev–Popov ghost (Q1391812).
Particles of Standard Model (Q18338) (work in progress)[edit]
This section is a work in progress and is here mostly to help me organize my ideas.
General comments[edit]
- <Particle of Standard Model (Q18338)> is <elementary particle (Q43116)>.
- antilepton (Q9617716), antineutrino (Q1066748), antiquark (Q2052084) exist, but I will ignore those groupings for now.
- fermion (Q44363) and boson (Q43101) indicate the type of statistics the particle obeys.
- All lepton (Q82586) are fermion (Q44363); all gauge boson (Q105580) and Higgs boson (Q402) are boson (Q43101). They don't fulfil the later categories.
- <Elementar fermion> and elementary boson (Q28920814) are groupings that would be totally contained in Standard Model (Q18338), but are they fundamental?
- scalar boson (Q2750336), <vectorial boson> and <tensorial boson> indicate the spin of the boson.
- W or Z boson (Q211922) groups the bosons of weak interaction (Q11418).
- W boson (Q1029485) groups both W bosons.
- What about W1, W2, W3 and B bosons of Electroweak theory?
