Merging items

[edit]

Hallo 117Avenue,

For merging items, you may want to use the Merge.js gadget. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically place a request to delete the empytied page. This way of nominating makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

Hi, and thanks for the welcome, I'm still fumbling my way around here. Your link to the merge gadget doesn't work, where can I learn more? The admin is still looking at the history of the page, right? How does an automatic merge help? 117Avenue (talk) 03:53, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It was moved: The merge.js gadget can now be found on the help page about merging. - User:CycnUser:CycnUser:CycnUser:Cycn - (Cycn/talk) 07:48, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian elections

[edit]

Hello 117Avenue

I understand that, to take an example during the 1972 Canadian federal election (Q951046) Pierre Trudeau was not the only one elected by the direct vote, but he was elected by an indirect vote as Prime Minister of Canada (Q839078). That's why in the infobox of the Canadian federal election, Pierre Trudeau is displayed as leader of a party and as the Prime Minister after election. --Dom (talk) 13:13, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A person is not elected Prime Minister, which is why the infobox says "Prime Minister after election", not "Elected Prime Minister". It is incorrect to state a person wins a federal election, instead the winner should the Liberal Party of Canada, or List of House members of the 30th Parliament of Canada. 117Avenue (talk) 23:56, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Banff National Park

[edit]

What it is your sources about the town to be out of the parks. The WDPA maps seem to include the townsite. The Canada National Parks Act don't seem to mention the townsite id out of the park. --Fralambert (talk) 02:34, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I see English isn't your first language, so I feel sorry for not understanding your comments. I understood your edit to Banff National Park, as saying the park is within the town. In fact the town is within the park. 117Avenue (talk) 02:44, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I apologise for my english, it's sometime difficult to put your idea together. I don't se the problem to give multiple items for located in the administrative territorial entity (P131). I see this as the equivalent of a French regional natural park (Q1818761), who can inculde more the 50 communes, it is logical to put them all in located in the administrative territorial entity (P131). I am not familliar with the Alberta administrative hierachy and I see that you put Banff (Q58337) as a subdivision of Improvement District No. 09 (Banff National Park) (Q6007840). It's normal? Out of subject, I realised that the coordonate of Improvement District No. 12 (Jasper National Park) (Q6007836) are false, they give a position of North East Alberta. --Fralambert (talk) 03:31, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what to do with municipalities really. Banff (Q58337) and Improvement District No. 09 (Banff National Park) (Q6007840) are separate municipalities, but I have seen a bot putting towns and villages in the rural municipality that surround them, Improvement District No. 09 (Banff National Park) (Q6007840) surrounds Banff (Q58337). An explanation on the hierarchy can be found at en:List of communities in Alberta. 117Avenue (talk) 03:39, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thank you for that :) --Mr. Ibrahem (talk) 12:37, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Depreciated rank

[edit]

By puting depreciated rank for Drumheller hoodoos (Q26381933), is like you say a false source said the hoodoos was in Municipal District of Badlands No. 7 (Q15195939). Actually the hoodoos where in the Municipal District of Badlands No. 7 before the territoy was merged in Drumheller. So the normal rank for Badlands No. 7 (with a end date) and the prefered rank for Drumheller is totally normal. Rankin is explaned here. Oh, also, Happy new year. --Fralambert (talk) 02:24, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That page isn't clear, it also says depreciated rank is used for info "that represent outdated knowledge". 117Avenue (talk) 02:27, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I know it's not too clear. The beat exemple I have I for population. If I take Laforce (Q3216119), The population of the census of 2011 was corrected, the former population was a error, so it is depreciated, the new population is ranked normal. When someone will add the 2016 population next year, the new population will be ranked preferred, since it's the population you wan that people see in the infobox. --Fralambert (talk) 02:57, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
