Merging items[edit]

Hallo Adoomer,

When you are merging items, please use the Merge.js gadget. It helps you nominating, gives the option to always keep the lower number (which is older, so preferable) and makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

With regards,

Hello Cycn,
Thanks for the tip, but I already use Merge.js. I didn't use the option to always merge to the lowest number, because I was following the merging policy - sometimes I merged to the item with higher number because it was used more often. While we're at it, I would like to ask: should I use the option to automatically nominate empty entries for deletion or rather try the StreamDeletion? The latter is said to be an experimental feature, and I couldn't find any documentation on this topic, so I just used the former option.
Thanks again for your comment. Kind regards -- Adoomer (talk) 09:53, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't know what's most useful for bulk nominations, but there are a few users who do a lot. I'd check the Wikidata:Requests for deletions and contact a user or two who nominate in bulk and ask them for their advise.
About merging into the lower number: There may be a few exceptions to this rule of thumb, but generally I always try to. I take care move all the links to the lower numbered item when doing so. Heavily linked items can take a bit of time to handle, but I believe it's preferable. -Cycn (talk) 10:33, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
