Hi! There's a discussion at Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions#Errors by NPImporterBot where a user appears to be claiming that your bot is making proxy edits on behalf of editors without citing them. As you may be aware, a number of other bots have been blocked for this. I'd really like to hear your response.

{{Q|27146968}} and {{Q|Q105116492}}

Thank you for the report! This was because of an incorrect InChI present on {{Q|27146968}}, it should now be fixed.

AdrianoRutz (talkcontribs)

Also found 23 of such other buggy relations and fixed them, thank you again for pointing me to the error.

Ваш бот допускает многочисленные ошибки, привязывая свойство код Open Tree of Life (P9157) к синониму, а не к тому названию, указанному на странице Open Tree taxonomy. Online translation: Your bot makes numerous mistakes by linking the код Open Tree of Life (P9157) property to a synonym, and not to the name indicated on the Open Tree taxonomy page: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q12962137&diff=2119850517&oldid=2101963255, https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q25577567&diff=2119911453&oldid=2106661088, https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q16536950&diff=2119917240&oldid=2060431711 and others.

Это неправильное поведение бота. Если он продолжит, то я буду настаивать на его блокировке. Online translation: This is the wrong behavior of the bot. If he continues, I will insist on blocking him.

AdrianoRutz (talkcontribs)

How is proper matching through recognized external IDs a wrong behavior? I stopped the bot upload until clarification but would like to hear more constructive arguments.

VladXe (talkcontribs)

Online translation: In my opinion, the correct behavior of the bot is: what is written in the page header in OpenTree taxonomy should be in the международное научное название (P225) property of the element. Wikidata has a very broad criterion of significance and synonyms of biological taxa fall into it. Pseudomonadota ≠ Proteobacteria and the bot should take this into account.

This bot created same articles multiple times. Make sure you checked that the DOI does not exist. Please note DOI should be converted to upper case.

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

This is weird, we have a system to check for duplicates using the DOIs and it is case insensitive (because not all DOIs are uppercase it seems on wikidata).

Was that with old data or from today's upload?

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

All our DOIs are uppercase now, they were not when we are in the test phase of the bot though, and we still have to correct those articles. But as it is not the purpose of that bot, I need to find a way to clean that up properly.

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

I see Q103815029 as one of them. Really strange. I have to dig why it is ignoring that one (and probably others then).

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

I found the bug, DOIs were not urlencoded properly so the ones like that with a + in them were getting duplicated. I'm correcting that immediately. Thanks for raising the issue!

Please fix this.

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

You did remove those entries already right? I'll check what's wrong in our taxonomy system.

Succu (talkcontribs)
Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

Oh I meant: "you corrected them" sorry.

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)
Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

Ok I see some of them were corrected, not all, we will manually correct these as there aren't a lot of them. Sorry for the incovenience.

Succu (talkcontribs)

Your bot matched a lot of wrong external ids. Please check the reverts I made.

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

Where do I find these?

Succu (talkcontribs)

Login with your bot account.

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

Ok found what the problem was. Reworked completely our taxonomy system. It was not taking into account varieties. Our next uploads will not have issues like that. Thanks for spotting these!

Succu (talkcontribs)
Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

Thanks, I'll check if that's something that was created a while ago or if that's something recent and correct our code accordingly.

Succu (talkcontribs)
Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

Thanks for checking. What is very wrong with these?

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

Also I'm a bit confused the two you linked were not created by our bot.

Succu (talkcontribs)

Created by your bot. A variety has the form Aaaaa bbbb var. cccc not Aaaaa bbbb cccc. The rank is variety not species. The parent taxon of a variety is a species not a family. Sometimes the identifier was wrong.

Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

Oh I see what you mean, I didn't saw the redirection, sorry.

I'll look at how SuccuBot handle those things. Do you have a set of rules already written for cases like that? I could validate our entries before upload using that. Anyway as I said in the other issue, I will correct our bot before trying to get new taxa. For that specific one, I am working on a feature that would match and validate the existing identifiers before attempting to create a new taxon. If you want I will generate a list of what we believe would be missing and run it by you so you can tell us if you see anything wrong, that will avoid wasting your time correcting our entries.

Succu (talkcontribs)
Bjonnh (talkcontribs)

That's good that you are checking these, that allows us to correct this kind of problems. We are not adding more taxa until we solve this issue and the other two issues. Thanks for spotting that.

Call for participation in the interview study with Wikidata editors

Summary by Bjonnh

Met with that person in a call.

Kholoudsaa (talkcontribs)

Dear Bjonnh,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018). The information and data that you provide will remain confidential; it will only be stored on the password-protected computer of the researchers. We will use the results anonymized to provide insights into the practices of the editors in item selection processes for editing and publish the results of the study to a research venue. If you decide to take part, we will ask you to sign a consent form, and you will be given a copy of this consent form to keep.

If you’re interested in participating and have 15-20 minutes to chat (I promise to keep the time!), please either contact me at [] or [] or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmmFHaiB20nK14wrQJgfrA18PtmdagyeRib3xGtvzkdn3Lgw/viewform?usp=sf_link with your choice of the times that work for you.

I’ll follow up with you to figure out what method is the best way for us to connect.

Please contact me if you have any questions or require more information about this project.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Stang (talkcontribs)

Hello, it seems that your bot makes some wrong modification to the label of this item. How does that problem occurred?

Stang (talkcontribs)

sorry nvm, it seeems that is just the different description of this chemical material.
